Hello,

I help local structure to regain control over their tools and data based on refurbished hardware and using free software only such as proxmox, yunohost, nextcloud, synapse (matrix) and dolibarr.

I want to help them migrate to linux alos on their desktop/laptop and am looking for the linux distro that would make me feel sure they are safe to use it (an atomic system ensures your computer stays reliable through every update) and they’ll like it (fast and beautiful) and they can be autonomous using it.

I follow the development of aerynOS for some years now, and contributed a bit till the community decided to leave matrix (then I didn’t make the effort to join an other platform…), and I believe aerynOS (with Cosmic) could be that distro.

I’m happy to join this forum to be able to interact with the community again.

The last blog post (Aug 31, 2026) is very promising. Can’t wait for the ISO including the new TUI to get released. It could be the one that make me migrate from NixOS to aerynOS on my own laptop.

Hey there,

I do remember you from matrix, glad you have you on board with Discourse!

I would say for now, it probably doesn’t make sense installing aerynOS on anyone else’s system if you want them to have a good experience of Linux. It’s not that stuff doesn’t work, but we can’t really guarantee it whilst we are in alpha.

For your own system then it may be a good option. Bryan is continuing to work on the installer and it is gradually becoming more and more refined! I can’t wait for it to launch properly as part of a new ISO!!

I might not have been clear.

I don’t plan to install aerynOS on anyone else’s system in near future but I have a good feeling it might become the distro I choose to install later on.

First, I need to use it as a daily distro and for that, like you, I can’t wait for the new version of Lichen to launch properly as part of a new ISO.
