AI within Linux kernel

Linus calls banning AI-generated code “utterly stupid” as Linux submissions no longer need LLM disclosure, Linus calls banning AI-generated code "utterly stupid" as Linux submissions no longer need LLM disclosure

Am I the only one tonight to feel betrayed and taken as hostage as I don’t know what alternative I could use to avoid AI slop to contaminate tools I rely on?

You’re not alone in this.

Especially that AI and non-AI code aren’t labelled appropriately anymore.

And his analogy is misplaced. He might review his code well, but he has no idea of the kinds of slop bombarded in PRs which led COSMIC and aerynOS to have a hard no-AI policy.

I’m honestly hoping redoxOS can be usable early enough.

note this is a personal opinion.

I have no real issue with AI contribution assuming they’re beholden to the same standards as other contributions. People who just publish AI slop are most likely going to find themselves banned from kernel development anyway.
