# Unstable Stream Update: 11th March 2026

## Changes

This Stream Update first and foremost saw updates to KDE Plasma 6.6 and KDE Gear 25.12, landed by @ReillyBrogan.

To avoid churn and driver woes, we have stayed on the 6.18 LTS series kernel for the time being.

This update also saw the landing of [podman](https://podman.io/). We already offer [buildah](https://buildah.io/) and [skopeo](https://github.com/containers/skopeo), so this is a welcome addition. As part of this update, distrobox was updated to use (and tested to work with) podman instead of docker. This enables rootless testing of containers.

Moss and boulder saw some refactorings to code paths, and some improvements to error reporting via the fs\_err crate. This means that errors that involve file names will now actually include the name of the file that an operation failed on, aiding in debugging. The justfile was also updated to use features available in newer just versions, though this notably requires Debian 13 users to upgrade the just version manually.

Thanks to @AnonAlly , moss now also supports specifying ranges when removing states like so:

`sudo moss state remove 7 11-14 19-23`

### Fixes

- zig had an issue fixed where it was previously built with native cpu optimizations that would cause segfaults on any machine not running a ryzen 9000 series CPU
- gamescope now uses the `-steamos` flag to avoid crashes
- uutils-coreutils was previously missing the `groups` command, which has now been added
- niri had a few patches backported to it, fixing issues that could cause compositor freezes

- superfile 1.5.0 _(pretty fancy and modern terminal file manager)_
- walker 2.14.2 _(multi-purpose Gtk4 launcher with a lot of features)_
- wayfreeze 0.2.0 _(freeze the screen of a Wayland compositor for e.g. screenshots)_
